Location of St Joseph's, Church

St. Joseph’s Church is on the outer ring road on the east of the city where the A563 meets the A47.  The church is round and has a large slim tower with topped with a cross (the church tower was designed so that it could be seen clearly from various areas of the parish) – so you should have sight of it a while before arriving.

The pastoral centre is at the far side of the church with the car park accessed from the A47 (Uppingham Road).

The AA Auto Route directions - if travelling from the south on the M1.

When you get to junction 21 continue north on ramp towards M69/A5460/Coventry/Leicester.  At roundabout take the THIRD exit onto A5460 and follow ramp.  Bear LEFT onto A563 (Lubbesthorpe Way).  At next roundabout take the THIRD exit onto A563 (Attlee Way)  At next roundabout take SECOND exit following A563 (Asquith Way).  At the next roundabout take FIRST exit onto A6 (Leicester Road)

After about 0.7 miles turn RIGHT onto A6030 (Stoughton Road)

At the roundabout take the FIRST exit continuing on the A6030 (Stoughton Drive) for approx, 1.8 miles.

Turn right onto A47 (Uppingham Road) for 0.9 miles and as you approach the top of the hill you will see St. Joseph’s Church to your right at the traffic light junction.

If coming from Norfolk/Peterborough/Cambridgeshire.

Come on the A47 towards Leicester.  You will come to Houghton-on-the-Hill, then Bushby and Thurnby.  As you leave Thurnby on the A47, the church will be on your left at the top of the hill on a main traffic light junction.  Remember, you will need to turn into the car park just before the church building.

If coming from Newarke, Lincolnshire, Nottingham

Come towards Leicester on the A46 until it meets the A607.  Follow the A607 until it joins the A563 outer ring road.  Turn left onto the A563 (Thorn Lighting is the building on the left as you approach the junction).  Follow the A563 ring road, driving straight over the traffic lights and roundabouts.  You will come to an island with four large green cones on it and Tesco to the left.  Drive straight over this island and follow the road to the bottom of the hill and a traffic light junction.  Go straight over this junction and up the hill (you should now be able to see our church).  At the top of the hill is a main traffic light junction and this is where you meet the A47.  St. Joseph’s church will be to the left of the far side of the road.  Turn left onto the A47 and immediately indicate to turn right into our car park.

If coming by Train.  Taxis are available at the train station and you should ask for “St. Joseph’s Church – at the top of the hill, on the junction of Goodwood Road and Uppingham Road”.

Public Transport.  Several buses come this way, although the bus station is in the centre of town, quite a walk from the train station.  The best Bus Stop for St Joseph’s can be found just inside Humberstone Gate (off Charles Street).  The number of buses vary – No. 54 is the one most seem to use – and any bus that travels along the Uppingham Road as far as Goodwood Road junction should be ok.
