The Watermead Apostolate

The Watermead Apostolate came to St. Joseph's in February 2001, having begun their music and publishing apostolate in 1994 at the parish of St. Theresa's, Birstall.

In 2006 the "Old Stable" Church at the back of St. Joseph's car park was refurbished to house the work of the apostolate and this is now known as the Watermead Centre - offering a large repository shop with a wide range of religious items, cards, memorabilia, gifts, music, CDs, DVDs, books, rosaries, etc., alongside Watermead's own published items.

There is a complementary therapist who visits regularly by appointment and the various offices and store rooms in the centre are used for the production and distribution of Watermead's own items - which are ordered from across the UK and various countries around the world.

The Watermead Shop opens regularly throughout the week (all their profits are shared with charities).

Weekday Shop Opening Times
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - ALWAYS OPEN (other than Christmas Week and Easter Week)
(10.45 am - 3.30 pm)

Weekend Shop Opening Times
Weekend opening is dependent on our volunteers and the various seasons

Saturday from 5.00 - 5.50 pm - only open during the lighter evenings (check parish newsletter for confirmation)
Sunday from 11.45 am - 12.15 pm - (periodically closed, especially during a parish pilgrimage)

Each week the apostolate produces "The Lord's Day" - a free downloadable newsletter giving a background to the Sunday readings, along with other regular columns - "Question of Faith", "People of God", "Thought for the Week", etc.
